(What's The Story) Morning Glory, Oasis produced one of the most absurdly bloated albums to ever be recorded.  Be
Here Now's 12 tracks may not seem like much on the surface, but practically every song is one, two, or even four
minutes longer than necessary.  The most notorious stretch comes at the end, with All Around The World lasting a
mind-boggling 9:42, followed by a seven-minute song (It's Getting Better (Man!!), and then an inexplicable reprise
of All Around The World for another two minutes.  Success plus cocaine apparently meant they had lost all conception of
editing.

Making matters worse was poor song selection.  For reasons even they couldn't understand, Oasis
dumped many of the session's best songs onto the singles as B-sides (including fan favorite Stay Young).  Combined
with overlong and often poor songs , Be Here Now became known as the album which killed Britpop.  Certainly Oasis never
recovered from their extremely bad judgment here.

In order to produce a listenable version of Be Here Now,
the solution was obvious.  Every song was edited down to the length they probably should have been (often
significantly), and the strongest B-sides were added in place of the many weaker album tracks.  The results still
probably don't match up to Oasis' best work, but Be preserves their grandiose sound while keeping everything
manageable.  This isn't a great album, but it's much better than what the band decided to release.  At the
very least, you can now actually listen to the album, because Be Here Now is so overlong that it's doubtful anyone
could actually sit through the whole thing at once anymore.  Be is what these sessions could have been if they'd
showed a modicum of restraint.
